P.E at Home
Being active every day helps children stay healthy, sleep well, concentrate in class and feel good. The Chief Medical Officers recommend that children aim for at least 60 minutes of physical activity a day – and it doesn’t all have to be at once. Here are some easy ideas and free videos to get the whole family moving.
Quick ideas to get active
Indoors
- Have a five-song dance party.
- Build an obstacle course with cushions and chairs.
- Play “floor is lava” or musical statues.
Outdoors
- Walk or scoot to school when you can.
- Play tag, hopscotch or catch in the park.
- Set a challenge: how many skips in a minute?
Calm down
- Try a short yoga or stretching video before bed.
- Practise slow “balloon” breathing together.
- Go for a quiet nature walk and spot five things.
