At North Beckton Primary School we offer a 15-hour government-funded placement. Children can receive 15 hours of free early education per week, 38 weeks per year (570 hours across the year).

You must apply a term ahead to reserve a 30-hour place for next term. If you submit a successful application, you will be issued with a 30-hour code to give to your approved childcare provider. 30-hour funding will only be available from the term after the start date of your 30-hour code. 

If you would like to place your child on our waiting list, please come into the school office. Children can be put on the nursery waiting list from the age of two and, depending on availability of places, will usually start the term after their 3rd birthday.

When a place becomes available for your child, you will be invited to a parents' meeting where you will be given a welcome pack and have a chance to meet the staff and look around the nursery. We will then invite you and your child to come in for a taster session in the nursery, and you will then be given a start date.

During your child’s first week in nursery, they have a slightly shorter session to allow them time to settle. Each child is different, and our nursery staff will be flexible to each individual child’s needs.

Please remember that the allocation of a nursery place does not guarantee a school place and this has to be applied for separately through Pupils Services.

For children born between 1 September 2022 and 31 August 2023, their parents or carers must apply for them to start an Infant or primary school (Reception Class) in September 2027.

The national closing date is Friday 15 January 2027.

Every family must apply to their home borough. This means if a family live in Newham, they must apply through Newham Council even if their child attends a nursery outside of Newham, or they only want to apply for a reception place in another borough. All London boroughs and some of the councils surrounding London work together to make the application process easier for parents. The councils follow the Pan London coordinated scheme 2027/28 scheme to pass information to each other.

Remember, parents/carers must apply for a place, even if:

• They want their child to go to the local school.

 Or

• Their child has an older brother or sister at the school.

   Or

• They want their child to start reception in the school where they are attending nursery.

The law does not allow us to reserve reception places.

Parents/carers can apply for a reception place for September 2027 through the eAdmissions website.

Applicants will need to register and create a password before they can start their application.

Please upload any relevant documents to your eAdmissions account.  Your documents can be added to the application until national closing day.

If a family arrives in Newham during the school year 2026/2027 and their child needs a school place, they must complete an In-Year Application Form naming their preferred schools.

The place offered may not be at the school the family prefers as that school may not have a suitable place available.  Please note that places are allocated by the Borough and not the chosen schools. Therefore, it is important to contact Newham’s admissions team if you have any concerns with your application.
