Nursery Admissions:

At North Beckton Primary School we offer 15 hour government funded placement. Children can receive 15 hours of free early education per week, 38 weeks per year (570 hours across the year).

We also offer 30 hours extended placement at North Beckton. Please click on this link to find out further: https://www.childcarechoices.gov.uk/

You must apply a term ahead to reserve a 30 hours place from next term. If you submit a successful application, you will be issued with a 30 hours code to give to your approved childcare provider. 30 hours funding will only be available from the term after the start date of your 30 hours code.

If you would like to place your child on our waiting list please come into the school office. Children can be put on the Nursery waiting list from the age of two and, depending on availability of places, will usually start the term after their 3rd birthday.

When a place becomes available for your child you will be invited to a parents meeting where you will be given a welcome pack and have a chance to meet the staff and look around the Nursery. We will then invite you and your child to come in for a taster session in the Nursery and you will then be given a start date.

During your child’s first week in Nursery they have a slightly shorter session to allow them time to settle. Each child is different, and our Nursery staff will be flexible to each individual child’s needs.

Please remember that the allocation of a Nursery place does not guarantee a school place and this has to be applied for separately through Pupils Services (details below).

Starting in Reception - September 2024:

For children born between 1 September 2019 and 31 August 2020, their parents or carers must apply for them to start an Infant or primary school (reception class) in September 2024. The closing date is 15 January 2024.

Every family must apply to their home borough.  This means if a family live in Newham they must apply through Newham Council even if their child attends a nursery outside of Newham, or they only want to apply for reception place in another borough.  Since 2004, the 33 London boroughs and some of the Home Counties work together to make the application process easier for parents.

Remember, parents/carers must apply for a reception place, even if the child:

  • Attends our nursery.
    Or
  • Has an older sibling attending our school.

The law does not allow us to reserve reception places.

National closing for on time Reception applications - 15th January 2024

Before submitting a junior school application we strongly recommend all families read the local authorities ‘Starting Primary School’ guide and find out information about the school you are interested in.
